Rakat Counter — Privacy Policy
Last updated: 14 October 2026
Rakat Counter is built to keep your data on your own devices.
What the app uses
| Data | Why | Where it goes |
|---|---|---|
| Motion sensors (accelerometer, gyroscope, barometer) | To recognize prayer positions and count rak'ahs | Processed on the device in real time. Never stored as raw data and never sent anywhere. |
| Location (approximate) | To calculate prayer times for where you are | Your coordinates, rounded to about 1 km, are sent to the prayer-times service (UmmahAPI) to get the timetable. Nothing else is sent with them. |
| Profiles, settings, calibrations, prayer history | So the app works the way you set it up | Stored on your device. If you use a paired watch, it is copied between your phone and watch over Apple's WatchConnectivity or Google's Wear OS Data Layer. |
What the app does not do
- No account, no sign-in.
- No analytics, advertising or tracking SDKs.
- No data is sold or shared with anyone.
- Motion data is never uploaded.
Your choices
- You can enter a city instead of granting location access.
- On Android, the notification permission only lets the app show that a prayer is being counted.
- Deleting a profile deletes its settings, calibration and history.
- Deleting the app deletes all of its data from that device.
